Florida man arrested in Stop & Shop drugstore heist, cops say

Suffolk County Police on Wednesday arrested a Florida man in the theft of an East Northport Stop & Shop pharmacy earlier this week.

Eduardo Martinez, 33, of West Palm Beach, has been charged with third degree theft and false identity, police said Thursday. He was due to be brought to justice on Thursday in Central Islip Magistrates’ Court.

Martinez reportedly approached the Stop & Shop pharmacy counter at 454 Fort Salonga Road. at 12:30 p.m. Monday and handed an employee a note demanding prescription drugs and saying he had a gun.

The employee gave him the medicine and Martinez reportedly fled the store.

The police have not yet communicated the type of drug stolen.
