IHUB-DATA AT IIIT HYDERABAD LAUNCHES COURSE ON MACHINE LEARNING FOR CHEMISTRY AND DRUG DESIGN

HYDERABAD, India, March 3, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — With AI/ML revolutionizing the field of natural and applied sciences, there is a growing need for professionals who know both AI/ML and applied sciences. IHub-Data in collaboration with IIIT-Hyderabad, offers a 12–one week course on ‘Machine learning for chemistry and drug design‘ with a particular focus on drug discovery. The course should start from March 10, 2022.
Participation is open to students, researchers, professionals with a background in science who wish to understand the methods and applications of AI/ML in fields such as chemistry, biology and pharmaceutical science. Students and professionals with a background in computer science who wish to understand the applications of AI/ML in other fields will also find the course very stimulating.
The course offers fundamental theoretical and practical concepts in AI/ML and their application for drug discovery. There would be a series of lectures covering topics in both science and AI/ML to help build a solid theoretical foundation. There will also be hands-on tutorial sessions to help participants gain hands-on problem-solving skills.
An understanding of mathematics at level +2 is considered essential for participants. Knowledge of any programming language would be very beneficial.
Course outcomes include gaining knowledge of modern machine learning and deep learning methods, understanding important drug discovery problems that AI can solve, and gaining hands-on experience on the use of various tools and libraries (such as Python, Pytorch, Scikit learn, Numpy and Pandas) towards the creation of concrete solutions.
This is a one-of-a-kind 12-week certificate program, offered in collaboration with IIITH faculty, with a strong focus on AI/ML applications in drug discovery. Participants learn from india top researchers and eminent professors in computer science and also in natural/applied sciences. Some internships/research opportunities would be offered to top performing Masters or PhD students. It would also be possible to collaborate with ML experts to improve the project/thesis of the participants.
The participation fee for this 12 week course is 7,500 rupees for UG/Masters students, 15,000 rupees for doctoral students/post-docs and 30,000 rupees for industry professionals.
