Pharmacy boss to speak at Insider event | Midlands Business News

The boss of parent company Lloyds Pharmacy, which has a turnover of £6billion, will be a speaker at a Initiated health sector growth forum.

Toby Anderson is Managing Director of Coventry-based McKesson UK, which also owns AAH, the UK’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler.

He will be one of six speakers at the online forum, Midlands Health Sector: the Investment Opportunities, to be held on March 2.

Anderson, who has held the role since 2018, will explain how the company is helping to develop the Midlands health sector and improving the lives of patients through health technology.

The former Sainsbury’s executive will also talk about the key role Lloyds is set to play in the High Street redevelopment, saying he would like to see many of its 1,350 pharmacies become something similar to health centres.

Other issues for the forum to consider include how the health sector can overcome challenges such as funding, marketing and skills. It will also look at how innovation hubs help turn great ideas into effective medical treatments and products.

Other speakers are Andy Lindstrom, director of marketing at drug researcher Sygnature Discovery; Dr. Catherine Beech, CEO of Exonate, which is developing a treatment for people with vision loss; Professor Gino Martini, Managing Director of the Precision Health Technologies Accelerator (PHTA) at the University of Birmingham; Dr. Kath Mackay, director of life sciences at developer Bruntwood SciTech and Dr. Nik Kotecha, president, Morningside Pharmaceuticals.
